Organization Description

Community Legal Services (CLS) of Prince George’s County has a mission to provide education, advice, and/or representation to low-income litigants in civil legal matters in Prince George’s County, Maryland. The legal services are provided by lawyers of Prince George's County and professional staff. CLS provides brief legal advice, free or reduced fee legal representation, and legal education. CLS provides assistance in matters involving: divorce, custody, child support, visitation, domestic violence, guardianship, unpaid wages, foreclosure, bankruptcy and other non-fee generating cases.

Program Description:

CLS's Lawyer Referral Program provides legal representation to qualified clients. Clients are screened for income eligibility and the facts of the case are reviewed. Assistance is provided in cases involving: divorce, custody, child support, visitation, domestic violence, guardianship, foreclosure prevention, wills, landlord/tenant, unpaid wages, tort defense, bankruptcy, and other non-fee generating civil legal matters. 

Apply for free legal representation by calling our main office or apply on-line. Hotline is available in English and Spanish. Clients are screened for income eligibility and case priority. An application fee $25 is charged for processing the application for the lawyer referral (waivers available).
