Program Description

CLA staff attorneys, together with a network of volunteer attorneys, provide direct client counseling, case development, and representation in local, state and federal matters. Chesapeake Legal Alliance staff and volunteer attorneys are some of the most experienced attorneys in their fields, with backgrounds in:

  • Land and water pollution
  • Environmental permits
  • Enforcement & compliance
  • Hazardous land cleanup
  • Contracts
  • Public health
  • Corporate and non-profit management

If you have a water quality issue and need legal assistance, please fill out the intake form.

After you contact us for legal help, you are considered a potential client. One of CLA's staff members will contact you to begin the intake process. During the intake process, we will collect details about your issue and work with you to identify what type of legal help you may need. During this process we will also identify if your project falls within CLA’s mission and whether we can provide the appropriate support requested. Once we make a determination, we will notify you as to whether CLA can assist you. If we determine we can assist you, CLA will place your legal issue with a CLA volunteer attorney.
