Organization Description

Volunteer Legal Advocates delivers life-changing, free legal help to domestic violence survivors and vulnerable children in Washington, DC, and Montgomery County, MD. Through our core programs, unique volunteer model, and the wrap-around support of our Client Advocacy team, we ensure our clients have the tools and representation they need to build safe, stable futures.

Program Description:

Our trauma-informed attorneys represent survivors of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, stalking, and other gender-based harms in Protection Order hearings, custody, child support, divorce, and related immigration matters. We also advocate for survivors’ rights in criminal cases, housing, employment, and public benefits. By pairing legal action with support services, we help clients escape abuse and rebuild secure, self-sufficient lives in DC and Montgomery County, MD.
